Here's mine, they had no idea what they were at the store and the rest all looked like over grown cons, so I got this one probably the closest I will find to a real trimac around here

This first one is an old pic of PetsMart "Trimac" number 1 (actually a Uro). My mom now has this fish.
The second one is an old pic of Petsmart "Trimac" number 2 when it was in the hospital tank healing up after getting beat up pretty badly. Bderick now has it or had it and got rid of it.

I hear ya on the out of room thing. Did you take it to Aquatica? The one you kept is definitely the nicest out of all of the ones you had (including mine).
now that im thinking it might have been 8 months at the most cant realy remember..lots of water changes and food may have helped but he has definetly grown .he was about 1-2 inches when i got him .i bought 3 of them and i gave one to my mom and one got took to petstore.next time i see them im going to buy all of them.grow them out for 6 months and take up the street get enough back to buy food
