Petsmart Trimac

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd say it's 50/50 chance it will be what it's supposed to be

My point was that 90% of PetSmarts don't know a Midas from a Red Devil.

Are they seriously considering bringing in Trimac? When 98.5% of their employees don't even understand the requirements (tank size) needed for this monster, as well as the fact that They may be mislabeled as oh Red Devils as they seem to think their Uro is a Red Devil because they for sure don't know what a Festae is!

I hope to god I don't see a market flooded with stunted Trimac kept in 10 Gallon Tanks. :irked:

90% of fish keepers can't tell the difference lol. Especially since most at petstores are a mix

Sad...isn't it?

I predict Petsmart will create a Trimac description label stating "Max size-6".

Look at their other labels. I confronted my local Petsmart about that once and here's how it played out:

Me: You guys' label says the max size of the GT is 6" and they grow up to 10". Also the they JD, Midas, and Oscar are wrong too.

Employee: What size tank do you have?

Me: I have a 13" Midas and a 10" GT in a 135 gallon tank and have previously kept all of these fish.

Employee: That's the problem. Your tank is too big. If you keep these fish in a 10 or 20 gallon like most our customers do, the max size would be correct.

Me: Bwaaaagh!! :wall:

WOW JUST WOW I can't belive they said that to u i would have been hot dude :irked: i would have told him that the average wieght of a petsmart employe should be under 100 lbs all u have to do is lock them in a closet and slide a slice of bread under the door when u feel like it keeps them the size u want:ROFL:  :grinno: :grinno: :headbang2

Sounds very similar to one of my arguments with an employee at Petco.
The girl said to me Red Devils are fairly small fish. They only grow 6". There minimum tank size is 30 gallons. I got mad and told her whats up. She continued to argue with me the hole time I was there. :irked:
The fish in the tank weren't even Labiatus they were Amphilophus Citrinellus. I also tried to explain to her that they were Citrinellus and she's like no our providers are 100% correct. Then I came up with whole Festae, Uro thing and I was like really they are 100% correct!

I bought a Trimac years ago from Petsmart when they were selling them for a limited time only. It ended up with a female trimac. The color wasn't too bad either. I will post a pic if I can find one.

Knowing Petsmart it will probably be whatever fish the idiot of the day (read scheduled employee) decides to dump in the tank labeled Trimac.
So far I bought a GT labeled red devil, a uro labeled jack dempsey and a severum labeled silver dollar. I didn't mind though seeing as how I got them all cheaper because of the mislabeling, except the severum, I think it was about the same either way. I think my favorite petsmart label is for the pangasius shark, max size 6 inches, recommended tank size 15 gallons LMAO! Poor fish.
