yeah, any reputable pet store wouldn't let anyone with that little knowledge of animals work there
well i find that petsmart is becoming like walmart but thay sell other stuff there to what happens is that some high school kid goes and gets a job and thinks thay are going to work with cats and dogs and find themselfs in the fish department

In my petsmart, we have the cashiers that like animals the most work in the fish department. Why? No one of great knowledge applys. (That's why I keep getting raises haha, no competition lol)

If you've already got firemouths, cons, pictus, and some barbs in your tank, then it sounds as if your already well stocked for a 55g and should not consider getting any other fish for that tank. You could house a red devil alone in a 55g for a bit, but an adult red devil will require a much larger tank.

I'm not sure how having a fish mislabled makes anyone a retard. I do know that if I ever considered a store "retards" I sure wouldn't shop there cause then you are one.

lol

Too lazy to read back to see if anyone else said this, but many midas/rd start off with a barred coloration only to loose it later in life.

I am finding these corporations are not really stupid... it just that they're working to SERVICE the costumers.

I know... I used to work in a music shop. Costumers want to buy that $30 guitar that sound like complete crap to anyone's ears and discourage them from picking up an instrument over a somewhat decent $100, $200 beginner guitar. Then when you say they need "this and that," they go for the cheaply-marked products that don't even last a day.

The manager only stocks them because the crappy products bring in revune into the shop and not to our competitors across the street.

i think i need to start a new job at petsmart i know most thing about dogs not much about cats but i think i know more than all of them put togather but if i didn't work there for long i would at least try to teach the other people that work there , but how much do you make at petsmart a good amount or just more than burger king

I agree 100%.

Even when I recommend the proper care, its goes in one ear and out the other.

I know! Who can blame the employees for giving the advices? About a month into my job, I just give them starter advices... whatever the costumer want -- they buy. Why bother giving them the proper setup? Once in awhile, I get a costumer I enjoy talking to and working to, but most of them are just ... well... it is just fustrating trying to encourage them to take the right path without starting an argument.

I have friends in the pet store industry, they said after awhile, they don't even bother giving advices because they either get:

1) A costumer that refuse to listen
2) A costumer who think they know everything, even though they are asking for help
3) A costumer who already well-educated on the subject and doesn't really need or ask for help
