petsmart...

The people in the petsmart I work for do sincerely care about the animals. It really depends on which one you go to. I have been to some that are horrible--rude workers, dead animals, dirty, etc.

The only gripe I have with my store is that they do not train the new people well. I have many gripes with corporate but since I was told that I could be fired for writing about the company on the internet (via livejournal or here) I will leave it at what I've already said.

Definitely don't want to cause jeopardy at your place of employment. I agree that some petsmarts are better than others, only because of the quality of people that works there. My local petsmart uses oranges on their fish to stimulate healthy skin and color. I think that only works for goldfish and some cichlids. Other predator fish does not benefit from it I believe.

Both Petsmart's here are great. Very clean, healthy fish in what seem to be well kept tanks. They always double bag and pack with oxygen. 14 day guarantee on everything. They won't have anything really exotic or exciting, but that's not the market they serve. I bought 4 silver dollars there a few days ago without hesitation.

I prefer Petsmart fish to many of the smaller LFS' that keep their fish in skuzzy 10 gallon tanks with 2" of detritus and a half working decade old sponge filter.

:lol2:

That's funny. Sounds like the store I wanted to start out with, but changed my mind. I am going to do business in fish, but not the local fish store, or import/export. :naughty:

I like the petsmart by me. Very clean and good looking fish. It actually has many fish that u cant find in other stores, and if u can they are alot more expensive. Largest fish selection out of any pet store with in probably 50 miles of me.

To put it simple the local petsmart just plain sucks at everything. :swear:

All i can say is I wish there was another fish store other than petsmart in my town. Their oscars are allways the worst of the whole group of fish. I rarely see a batch that is not completely covered in ick. I am however happy to say I have one I medicated back to health and is doing quite well in his new home. :grinno:

I like the LFS they get to know you on a personal level and most of the time will let you know if you are making a mistake in the fish you are putting in your tank.

in the twin cities, there is like ten or so petcos and petsmarts, and walmarts. i go to two different petcos and one of th pet smarts. petco "A" is great all the fish people know me and my girlfriend by name, treat us great and always answer all of our questions, they even held a ferret that was for adoption for us to see if we would take it before they put it on the floor. petco "B" on the other hand is not quite as great. the manager is very nice and knowladgeable on many things, especially fish while the other girl couldnt tell her mouth from her ***. Petsmart by my house has always been second rate. while not all theyre fish are sick or dying. they could be alot better. all these stores with in 5 miles of each other with such a big difference. to say that every one is bad is not true. but for some reason the petsmart wouldnt hire me with ten years of fish keeping expierience and ten aquariums but they hired this bum whore that i used to go to school with. maybe it was my drug test

The petsmart here is great. I live maybe 20 min from That Fish Place don't know if all of u heard of it but its a pretty big fish place. I don't like that place at all u go there and there r numerous dead fish and i won't buy fish there its crazy they r supposed to be really good but i think it sucks. :swear:
