Went to petsmart for some feeders. They were out, so I asked for 10 of the cheap zebra danios. I was told in a rude manner that she could not sell them to me. They were pets. So I said, "so it's ok with you if my pet starves to death? She informed me it "wasn't nice" to feed fish to other fish. Has anyone had a similar experience? Never going there again, by the way.

everyone has opinions with feeding live
she may actually be trying to be responsible and may know a thing or two about fishkeeping

Interesting. I bet the manager of the store wouldn't have been too pleased with her for not selling the fish- that's bad business. And if it's 'not nice' to feed fish to other fish, why do they sell 'feeder' fish?
Anyway, take this as an opportunity to get your fish off feeders and start training them to accept other more nutritious foods.

Thats kinda funny, that is to say that a zebra danio life is more valuable than a goldfish. sounds like a classic case of racial profiling

Petsmart feeders :barf:Petsmart is the last place I would buy fish, especially feeders. Very risky.

haha classic ownage! did you ask the employee why the goldfish are called "feeders"? and why arent feeders considered pets too? sounds like an ignorant tool. i would have complained to the store manager just to put her in her spot

haha yeah some people? y would 1 fish be ok to be used as a feeder and not another ... i bought some mollies as feeders and they said that to me too so i came back a lil later and just said i wanted mollies they asked what for and i said to make my other fish happy :ROFL:haha so dont mention feeders just buy the fish ... but i agree feeders arnt the best you should use krill,shrip,worms,bloodworms...etc or get some feeders not goldfish something with more nutritional value and quarentine them then breed them yourself saves money trips to the store and you know what your fish are eating! cherry red shrip are one of my favs to use or mollies but i mainly feed my fish, frozen and dried krill, blood worms, worms talpia cod and Chichlid Gold pelets....

I am trying to get them off live. So far they will hit it and spit it out the first time I throw anything in. Then they ignore it. I tried starving the for 3 days, still no good. How long is too long to starve them? I don't like keeping feeders. It is more work than the bass!

Ha ha.Go back to the store and tell this nut to direct her attitude toward God for having the nerve to create predatory fish who feed on other fish.
