Which do you prefer when purchasing fish, and if online what websites have you used? And name your Petstore also if you want.

It really depends on the fish, in general I would like to buy fish from a store as I get to see exactly what I am getting on the spot. But there are certain fish that are a bit more rare, or quality of pet stores is simply not good enough as you would prefer a wild caught one.. I would go not with an online store but some of the fish keepers on this forum who sell fish.

yea, if its something specific or rare i will go online. However in my experience i recieve better livestock online than the LFS i have dealt with, even though i dont get to physically see the specimen before i purchase it.

Ive never bought a fish from a online store before, I dont think its really worth it unless your buying a few or a rare an costly fish. Plus Most good LFS will order or try an order fish If you ask them.

Rare fish ok, but be careful I had good luck with cjexotics. $28.00 for 6 Nandopsis Haitiensis "Black Nasty" shipped.

one spot I goto did an order from Rapps so I ask if i could get something since noone is really doing delivery right now. Got me a cobra pike but missed the black belt and red tiger.

online: Tangled up in Cichlids
LFS: The Rose Garden (they have 2 shops), The Fish Bowl and 50 Phathoms.

Howdy,

I've never purchased a fish online. I just like looking at the quality before I buy. My LFSs have always been able to get the fish I was looking for. Maybe that'll change some day. But for now, I'd rather even drive a couple of hours than ordering fish online and having them sit in a box on a delivery truck for ever.

well since i live on an island w/ only 2 lfs's (and the good one is a 6 hr rt drive -the other is outragesously priced) I almost always order online .Ive bought from jeff rapps ,shark aquarium ,jeffflowerhorn, luohanatic ,fhi (not in buisinessanymore),aquariumfishnet (wouldnt recomend for good qulaity goldfish anyways) ,somethingsphishy,goldfish.net,and numorus individuals from forums.IMO online is the way to go when looking for that 'something specific"

When I want something I fly to where they are farmed and start a business exporting there. Forget waiting for some fat guy to finally decide he's going to take that money I gave him 3 months ago and put it towards a fish I want!

I'm more likely to drive a few hundred miles to buy fish than have em' shipped sight unseen. Most of my purchases have been fish that I found by accident in stores. Works well for me because I'm more of an "exeptional common specimen-aholic". Also like to see the actual fish I'm getting before I plunk down the $.
I like the treasure hunt aspect of a road trip too.
By contrast, if I were an "exotic-aholic", I would no doubt turn to the internet.
