Think the blue in eyes are from lights bouncing off the painted sides.

Nice shots! The blue in the puffers eyes is actually part of the puffers biology. Even in clear tanks, when light reflects at the right angle, they have blue eyes.

The small freshwater puffers in the genus 'Carinotetraodon' also have this trait. It's really cool the way you were able to capture this.

I wish i could take pictures like that!!!!!!!!!

thanks

What are you using for a camera/lens?

12.8mp Canon 5D mark 1 camera with Sigma 150mm macro lens.

Thanks for the info, very interesting.

awesome lionfish shots!

Thanks

Amazing shots! How do you get the water to look so dark and only highlite the fish? Is it a lighting thing (flash/no flash, tank lights on or off, room lights on or off)? I got the combination right once, then forgot it.

Those are so excellent shots and great timing too on their utmost beauty.

Really digging the Lionfish shots. I really like the first three shots. The lighting and shading in the first make it look somehwhat horrific in a good way:) To my eyes that is.
