Ph shouldn't be the same for all fish. There are blackwater species from South America that live in 4.5 and Great Lakes inhabiting fish that thrive in water between 8.2-9.0.
Most all fish can handle a PH range between 6-8. Fish that come from acidic waters can handle extremes into 3-5 range. Fish that come from Higher ph can handle extremes in the 9-12 range. But if you take fish to there opposite extremes they will suffer and die.
