PH buffer

For last couple of weeks after water changes our PH has dropped, we have been adding a small amount of buffer with the fresh water to keep it stable and just wondered if this would cause any harm to the rays.

They have been happy enough but worried about the long term.

As long as the change in PH is not drastic they should b fine.

U might want to think about adding a little crushed coral to u filter or tank to keep the PH up when u do water changes. Once u add the crushed coral (not alot) u will never need to adjust ur PH again.

What you need to watch is the KH (carbonate hardness) of your water, this is the buffering capacity of your water. If its low add some baking soda about a tablespoon for 55 gal., wait 24 hrs. and check it again. I like to keep mine about 6 or 7 for stingrays. .... Roscoe

agree this is best way to do it if its a problem.... me i havent checked my PH is like 2 years what ever comes out of my tap is what goes in my tank...
