A bit of a worry here with this, the PH has been 7 - 7.2 untill the last week or so, it first dropped to 6.5 and now 6 since the last WC 3 days ago. All the other params are the same, amonia 0, nitrite less than 0.3 and nitrate has been around 30, those are before a WC, the only thing that normaly drops is the nitrate after a WC, down to 20.

The tap water is PH 5.5.

I do a 20% WC every 3 days.

I have 2 motoros, 3 silver dollars, 1 oscar, and 2 severums, also a very small TSNc x RTc.

If anyone can advice on why this is happening asap i would be so greatfull as its bothering me mainly about the rays health.

Thankjs all

If the tap water pH is at 5.5 are you buffering it? Also whens the last time you cleaned the filter? Also the nitrites should be at 0

Just checked the water again and the PH is still 6 and the nitrite has gone down to 0.1.

All the fish are happy and feeding aswell as ever.

( i dindt say but the PH change happend each time over a week for both drops)

I havnt cleaned the filter yet as its not been running long ehough (about 5 weeks), thats the sump, the canister for a few years, but the canister packed in 3 days ago and now just the sump is running, i added all the canister gunge to the sump when it packed in.

I am not buffering the water.

What is your KH?

Your KH is high enough to hold your pH steady.

I would question your test kit. Either the KH test or the pH test is telling lies!

Make sure your test tubes are good and clean, shake the snots out of the reagents. One result or the other is wrong.

Just this minute checked them again, PH 6 and KH 4.

What type of substrate do you have? How thick is it?

The subsrtate is a small area of gravel and the rest play sand, depth avaerages 1inch i would say.

All fish are happy as always and waiting for there braekfast and no change.

I would just watch it. Maybe consider an additional buffer. My tap water is REALLY soft (Portland, OR, you can drink it straight from the tap) and driftwood will take my ph to >6.
