PH drop, should i be worried ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
once a week i usually do 10-15%. Others will do 15-20% once every 2 weeks and some will do 30-40% once a month. Which ever way is easiest for you mostly, theres nothing worse then doing more water changes then you want to, and then get bored with it, and stop doing it. lol.

well im pretty good with my water in my tanks, and im used to doing BIG water changes on my ray tank.

but i heard before adding your first fish you should do a decent size WC
so said my lfs owner anyways. hes a good guy and i trust him as he really helped me set up my salt tank, also alowing me to take some of the LR from his DT so i knew it was good and cured.

i just didnt get to involved in asking specifically what size WC i should do at first ?

i have searched around on some posts and some people have said up to 50% wc after cycle is finished...

any thoughts ?

i usually do 15%. I also find it helpful to test your water and see how high the nitrates are at after the cycle, this can be used as a guage to see how much you need to lower your nitrate. If its above 80ppm for example, then you should do a large water change, with a pure source of water, or atleast water with a low nitrate reading, this will reduce that level obviously, but how much is something you will experiment with and find out lol.
