I added some CC to my 75G and took some PH readings the past couple of days. PH was at 7.4 so i left it there. Today i came home to find one of my Silver Aro's Dead. RIP.....

I took PH readings and now my PH is Past Dark Blue.

i did a HIGH PH reading and it's Purple.

What can i do to bring the PH back down to save the Fish.

ANYBODY?

I HAVE PH DOWN. but not sure if i should use it.

Thanks in advance.

BUMP!

What is the Ph of your tap water? If it is lower, do WATER CHANGES asap.

it's 6.8 - 7.0.

how much water should i change?

will the fish survive?

1st of all, what are the pH readings for purple and dark blue? This should help with how drastically you need to drop the pH.

2nd, have you removed the CC? If not, remove it and then do a large (25-40%) water change.

I don't trust pH Down or any chemicals, but that's just me. Are you sure it was the pH that killed your aro?

Hope this helps and sorry for your loss.

on the regulard PH test i got a Dark Navy Blue. Over 7.6.

so i did a HIGH PH test just to see what i get and i got a PURPLE color. which is 8.6 about.

i don't know if the HIGH PH TEST means something just did it.

add a pieces of drift wood to lower your ph. do a 25% water change and add the wood.
try to avoid additives, to the water. it tends to change while going through the carbon.
add drift wood to lower PH.

Most of the fish in your sig like the lower pH any way. All of them but the Cons and Cray do best in that kind of water.

What made you want to raise it? Or did you just want to use the CC as a substrate?

I would suggest WC's as stated above, or the fish might not make it with that drastic of a drop.

i don't have drift wood. SUCKS!

i moved the fish to the 75G to give them a bigger home. had Coral (rock) in my 55G they were in with no issue. i added another piece in the 75G.

i tested for about 4 days now. no issue until today.
