PH lowering help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most fish can adapt to a PH as long as it's stable. For what it's worth, Amazonian fish (which includes pbass) come from acidic waters. Some backwaters have a PH of 4.0 to 5.5 at certain times of the year. This is well documented. Several strains of wild discus and cardnial tetras for example are known to spawn in such water. However, a PH in the sixes is more common. Do the research if you don't believe it. To say an Amazonian fish has better color with a PH in the 7s, is a figment of someone's imagination.

My silver arowana is doing great in 7.8-8.0. I have never changed my ph, just keep it stable and for the most part you will be fine. Breeding some fish in the wrong ph is tough though.

ohh really? so are you saying that i dont really have to use the proper ph 7.0? because my tap water ph is 8-8.3, and all i have to do is just keep it on 8-8.3 so my arowana would be adapted and use to it?

will i just want my arowana to be healthy with their right ph, but im hearing alot of people saying to dont use proper up or down, due to chemicals... so im just wondering if it is safe for arowana to use regular tap water but after conditioned of course?...

Your current pH is fine. Leave it alone. No need to fiddle with your pH.
