PH question and EBJD breeding

Well...I made the big move yesterday. Put the pair into the tank in our bedroom. Moved everything with them, gravel, water, decorations, and filtration systems. Basically the exact same setup minus the hujeta gars and the crazy light strip that I thought might be freaking them out. All in all I think it went well, they were a little stressed for a bit but I think if anything resetting the decor and switching tanks may kind of give them a "fresh" start. Fingers crossed!

Good luck!

It's been a week since I moved my BGGGs paired into separate tanks.
And last night I got my first spawning. So give it some time.
Maybe nature will kick in.

Spike:grinno:

So after racking my brain for months now about what I was doing different with my EBJDxWild-type then as supposed to now, or since I tried swapping for a BGJD female(if you've read any of my crazy theories during this thread you already know..lol) and fingers crossed, but I may have stumbled upon it! I was growing these mini lily things I stole from our pond and they were spreading like wild fire all over the surface of the water in the tank.(definitely not what they're called but they look like mini lily pads minus the beautiful flower). So I just grabbed some outta the pond, turned the lights off and put it in the tank. Once again FINGERS CROSSED but almost immediately both of them came out of hiding and started acting more normal than I've seen them in probably at least 6 months! Female was rubbing all over the roots and occasionally the male. And the male was just kinda trolling around puffing his chest/throat and being manly! Maybe this is it folks!!??

Sounds promising! I hope the duckweed does the trick for them :)

Thanks dispatch. They're still pretty skittish when the lights are on, but its a step in the right direction. The huge pair of JD's I picked are currently digging the biggest nest I've ever seen. Basically dug a huge pit the size of half the 55g they're in with gravel 1/3 the way up the front panel of glass! Looks amazing! Got some crappy pics but I'm ashamed to even post them. Lol

P.S. lovin your new camera shots!

Thanks! I'm loving the new equipment :) Do you have any dithers with your pair? I use giant danios. They always work at getting shy fish to come out of their shells :) oh and I'd love to see pics of the giant nest lol

I had a couple silverdollars in with them for awhile but I just removed them a couple days ago cause I had a hair brain theory that they were getting too big and just making my pair more nervous. Was thinking about a school of something smaller though(like neons or something ). Probably get picked off one by one but they're neat to look at for the time being. Lol...actually heading to the lfs right now!
