how do i get my ph up with out using chemicals i need it at about 7.0 to 7.6 my water comes in at 6.0 please help me out i change my water about 50% every 2 weeks :nilly:

start by doing one 25% water change a week, instead of 50% every other week. Get a piece of dead coral or crused coral, and put it into your filter and it will raise it. Why not use chemicals tho?

because i need a hole bottle to of ph up to rase it just a little bit its not cost effecit i have a 55g with a 400 emperior bio wheel filter were else could i but the corl could i put it down with my gravle ?

dont! thats worse!!!

do 50% water changes every week

what your tank stock with?

sound like its stocked pretty good since you got alot of nitrification gonig on, nitrification produces acids and that can drive down your pH.

whats the pH of your tap? or whatever you refill the tank with?

1. Get a barrel at least the size of your water changes.
2. Buy some baking soda.

You will need to play around with it to find your dosage, but when you do life will be easy. Fill the barrel with water and add a tea spoon of baking soda. Put a power head in the barrel to mix it up. After a few minutes, test the pH. Add another teaspoon and test again until you get it right. Keep tract of the dosage so you will know for future water changes. You need to double check the pH each water change.

So currently your tank water matches your tap water at 6.0, personally I would just leave it at that your fish will be fine. I you still feel you need to raise it, then add some crushed coral to your substrate, if your don't like the way it looks then bag it and put in your filter. I would put in as much crused coral as you can to buffer the tank water.

Now you will also have to condition your tap water, because you don't want to do a water change and add 50% 6.0pH to a tank with 7.5pH, fluxuating pH bad for the fish. So now you'll need to get some sodium bicarbonate(baking soda) and a container(5 gallon bucket) to mix it in with the water before adding to the tank. You'll need to experiment a little to find how much baking soda to add to raise the water to the desired pH level though. I would start with 1 tablespoon per 5 gallon water and go from there. Make sure you do have a good quality test kit also.

50% weekly water changes will be best in any case.
