Hey just wondering if anyone of you guys live near and fish at Pennypack creek and know where I can catch some black crappie? Supposedly it was said that there are some in the river but i been fishing for 7 years and never caught one. I been on a mission to catch all the fish in this creek and so far I am 50% there!

Never fished in Philly but if your ever in NJ hit me and show you some spots !

Let me in on the secret.

Mrlalomua - I just texted a friend of mine who fishes those waters all the time. I'll see if he knows.

thanks cuz i been trying to find them and so far no luck. I only caught almost all the species in the river besides black crappie.

I was just down at Roosevelt Park in South Philly.I'm told there are some interesting catches in the lake there.

Yeah that place have snakeheads cuz I saw some biologist awhile back shocking the place and pulled out two huge snakeheads.

try fishing in areas that bass would frequent with slightly smaller tackle, too large for ambitious bluegill, but not big enough to repel all but bass (i.e 1.5 inch lures are a good size). Small jigs work well as an alternative

Crappie are hard catches.

Yeah they are and I am not sure how to catch them. Been using minnows, jigs and other stuff and so far no luck.

I been fishing only in certain parts but I am not sure if they live near a bigger body of water in the river cause I never fish for crappie in rivers before.

johnson's beetle spins, try green/black, black/yellow, or white/red spot

other thought is minnows which you're already using, with the water being so hot they're probably moving deeper, the best time to catch them is early spring with water temps in the 60-70 degree range (at least here) - fish deep channels, dropoffs, bushes in deep water, etc
