Unckeyherb,
Just get on Germantown Pike and head towards Route 202. Northtowne Plaza is just before the 202 intersection on the left. There is a Starbucks on the corner and a Dunkin Donut directly across the street on the right.

It's much easier to find than the World Wide Aquarium in Roxborough. I made three trips down Ridge before I spotted it.

Thanks found it, went last night. A bit larger than Worldwide, lol. I live right by Worldwide and if I didn't know it was there I'd miss it every time.

Seemed like some great prices. Live Rock at $3.95/lb. Thats at least $2/lb cheaper than the other LFS' around here. Had tons of equipment up front, tanks up to 300 gallons, huge saltwater section. I know where I'll be spending a lot more time now. Also, nothing in the shark tank yet, hasn't cycled.

It's interesting to see a large aquarium store dealing with the same start up issues we hobbyist have. All the tanks in the front part of the store are now going through the cloudy, bacteria bloom, phase. They have a ~120 tall tank that is set up with about 30 different bubble driven ornaments (e.g., treasure chest, shark head, etc). Water was clear Friday, but last night, it looked terrible.

They also have two large tanks set up with a bunch of HOBs, canisters, skimmers, sand beds, etc. It's nice to be able to see them in action before buying one. It's ironic however, to see a tank with > 100x turnover rate with cloudy water. Maybe I'll suggest they add a sponge filter to help clear up the tanks.

The fish room is also having issues with cloudy water and some sick fish. The fish in the African Cichlid, salt water, and gold fish sections seem healthy; but the Central American cichlid section does have some sick fish. Only one large Black Lace angel is left and in bad shape. I'm not sure if they sold the others or they died.

I spoke to John, the fish expert, and he said they were growing bacteria cultures months in advance. I wonder why all the tanks were going through a bacteria bloom then. When I started my last tank, I put seeded sponges in my canister and it cycled in 5 days without experiencing a bacteria bloom.

I would like to post a pic of the Red Peacock I purchased at Big Al's but I have two issues.

First, I have not yet tried to post a pic. Is there an easy way just to paste the pic in my Reply? Some have suggested I set up an account with "?" but won't that generate junk mail? Nothing is free, so if I use a web site to store my pictures, the site sponsor would need to advertise to cover the cost. Is that true?

Second issue is I have to wait until he comes out of hidding and colors up. I have 5 other male peacocks in the tank, and I go through this every time I introduce a new male. All the peacocks are back re-establishing the pecking order. The new guy always gets the brunt of the agression from the others. I have this corner of the tank that is protected by dense plants. A fish really has to struggle to get in. My most recent peacock addition just moved out last week and joined the others. Now it's the Red Peacock's turn in the "barrel".

vfc - your ISP should provide you some webspace to upload photos to... if not, photobucket. if you don't wanna give up your email addy, get a gmail account just for that purpose...

when i was thre it seemed like all the tanks on the left side of the room had cloudy and sick fish
the right side of the room had very clean healthy fish.
the left side also had some dead fish in it, and the angles did look bad
