Phosphate hell

Tap water is generally treated and most of the nitrates/phosphates removed, some will be there yes but at very high levels it shouldn't be
You're right, normally there wouldn't be high levels of phosphates in tap water, but our water is taken from the Columbia River downstream of massive agricultural areas. The river is filed with runoff from all those farms pumping ruins of fertilizers onto their land that eventually finds its way into the water system :(
 
I can only get an idea of the original concentration if you give the volume of your tank (+sump) on top of the volume changed.
