my 75 planted is coming along very nicely, i added a bunch of rotala rotundafolia and echinodorus tenellus, and then i threw a bit of java moss and some hygro in there as well. my new planted tank is definitely a work in progress, i got a ton of plants and i just kinda threw them in there for now because i'm still waiting on a few of my centerpiece plants and i wanna make the scape around them. i can snap a couple pictures tonight when i get back from takin my puppy to training, the tanks still have a ways to go til i'll be happy, but it would at least give you an idea of what i'm trying to do.

We all know that planted tanks, I mean the nice looking ones take a very long time to get that way.. and my planted tank has been a work in progress for as long as its been setup.. and i think it will always be a work in progress, i cant look at my tank with out thinking that something should be changed lol. And out of curiosity what do you have for algae control in your 75? your tank looks spotless .. i use amano shrimp in the irritans but they slowly disappear.. im looking for suggestions

i actually don't use anything, but the excel helps to keep it in check... how many wpg and are you runnin co2?

I have the nutrafin co2 system.. i have 216 - 326 watts depending on if i turn them both on.. Im running an Eheim 2217 and an the large Eheim professional.. tonight im adding a 2213 converted into a po4 reducer with a Turbo-Twist 3x attached.. i never tried excel but i have heard good things... i also have 4 siamese algae eaters in the tank that are dumb-fast and the irritans cant catch them..a breeding pair of bushy-nose plecos and 10 small rasboras.. i have a problem with hair algae on my wood and some of he amazons have brown algae on them.. i am looking for any suggestions... and also do 15 gallon water changes every other day

if you have brown algae, you should pick up some otocinclus cats, they are great at removing the brown algae and they are nice and cheap. sometimes i have algae outbreaks and i just buy a few, toss em in, and let them do their thing, after a day or so you won't believe how much they've taken care of. i just make sure that i feed my piranhas first and then put the otos in on the opposite side, they do a pretty good job of staying hidden while attached to your plants eating algae. excel is a great algae preventative tho, i love the stuff.

for hair algae, your best bet is to just scrape it off, if you can take the wood out, scrub the hell out of it to make sure you get it all off and then stick it back in there, otherwise you can just scrape it off while it's in the tank.

thanks man... your very helpful.. as knowledgable as i may be i still need help lmao.. ill let you know how it goes.. i havent been home since yesterday so well see what my algae eaters did
