It's true. Neither the picture or the photo quality are POTM-worthy. sorry, just being honest. I'm a long way from there, too. Great looking silver, though, for sure.
Cover your flash with tissue paper or white paper. That will diffuse the flash. Shoot the fish at a slight angle to the glass and try to capture the entire fish in the viewfinder. It's also helpful that the fish be in an interesting pose and try to capture the fish with something natural behind him or nothing at all. It does not help to see filter tubes or heaters in pics. I hope that helps.
I'm still trying to get decent pics of our fish also but none of them will hold still long enough. Still going to post them in our gallery though.....you got to love the little buggers.
