Photosynthetic Bact for rays pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the azoo product is snake oil in that it only produces a teeny tiny percentage of denitrification before it gets filtered out of the system. the other bacteria discussed that was suspended in a POV solution would work but is complicated and pricey!!! i would argue that one would have the same if not BETTER results by adding water lettuce or water hyacinth to the pond. as the plant multiplies just discard excess plant. by doing this one would be discarding "nitrates." floating plants' roots are submerged, here in lies the trick. these plants are above water so they reep the maximum benefits from light (artificial/or sunlight) AND since they are above water they can also more easily find carbon in the form of CO2. thus they photosynthesis is GREATLY superior in floating plants.

a little off topic but worth a mention in this thread since in fact, on the roots of the floating (photosynthetic) plants there are milliions of (bacteria) that facilitate the absorption of ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate!

Totally agree with you. I have used PSB in the past with great results in outdoor applications. However, in a well filtered pond, the PSB gets trap in the media, deprive of sunliht, they die and stop working.

Nevertheless, good as a quick fix to get water back into condition in an emergency. Not much use in routine applications.

Have to add that it work wonders in one of my unfiltered pond.
