well i setup a hit counter for my site (php) but its getting counts that are off the roof i dont even belive i have that many people online. it says 405 are online as of now but i dont belive it. is there something wrong in my tmp?

Well the first problem is your using PHP. The second is they are probably search engine bots hitting your site.
