Picked this beauty up over the weekend. Thought I would share with you!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
he looks thick with a shrunken kok but i love it :D it's a kamfa prbbly? how much did u pay?

Yeah it was sold to me as a double row King Kamfa which seems pretty accurate. The guy couldn't really tell the sex but thought it was female. The more research I do the more I agree with the previous posters here that it is a male. Either way I love the fish and hope the kok fills out a bit as he grows. As far as pay I got it for a pretty good deal. Less than $100.

Here are a few more pics from last night as well.

Here is a pic from day one. You can see how much he has changed and healed up. He was pretty beat up when I brought him home. Little to no red.

That is a VERY nice Kamfa you have. By definition that is not a KK. Pearls have to cross the head and it would need a nice wrap tail outlined in white. I would pay well over 100 for the fish you bought so I say you stole it for under 100... Wait til that guys gets settled in and really shows his true colors. Good luck with him.

Thanks for further confirmation! I will definitely keep the updates coming. As for food I am feeding a large variety. Lets see if I can remember it all.

- Hikari Bio+
- Hikari Cichlid Staple
- Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets
- Grand Sumo - Original
- AquaMaster Cichlid Food
- Frozen Bloodworms as an occasional snack.

Thank you and I appreciate the info on KK versus Kamfa. I am still new to owning and learning a lot but glad to hear I got a good price on this one. It is settling in more each day, I am still working on getting him comfortable with my hand being it the tank but the more I interact with him the more he gets comfortable with me.

Thanks! I am trying to make sure to feed him well so he grows up big and beautiful! Only issue I have seen so far is on one side of the mouth seems to stick out a bit. At first I thought it was the start of duck lips and then I read how quickly it progresses and ruled that out since there has been no increased swelling or other issues. I spoke with the original seller and he had it in a small pond with several other cichlids and rocks. He said that this one came in and took over the pond and did some lip locking in which he believes caused it. If you look in the bottom picture taken from the first day you can see it a bit on the top lip. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I keep the tank at 86-87 degree's so I am assuming if it was duck lips he would already be in much worse condition? Or am I mistaken?
