Picked up a 400g today.

If you havent bought sand yet go to Tractor Supply Co, or Northern Tool, or simular and buy Black Diamond Sand Blasting Sand. Its heavy and wont cloud the water and is easy to clean. I use it in all my tanks and its great. You need to rinse it but its pretty easy if you just put it in some buckets. You can buy 50 lb bags for $7. Looks great and hard to beat the price.

I have a bunch of the black diamond, i use it for my sandblaster. I didnt think about it for tanks as it being an abrasive and all. I keep alot of bottom dwellers. Have you had any problems with it?
 
Have some fun with the tank, I suggest buying a single con from every petshop in a 25 mile radius... to keep separate bloodlines in case of breeding. Then in addition to the convicts... All Female Parachromis... Female Dovii, Female Jag, Female RTM, Female Freddi, Female Loselli... Then, maybe a Female festae... add a colony of royal plecos, and a **** ton of drift wood... that would be an awesome tank imho.
 
Have you thought of a stock yet?
 
Nice tank dude, what a bargain too! I thought my 300g was big.that's a beast! So far I only have an Aro in mine but gonna go with 2 motoros. Not really sure what else yet. Mine steal some of your ideas once yours in stocked, looking forward to seeing pics etc. Nice one!
 
well the 400 is finally up and running, it dont really look good at he moment as its about function right now. The only stock is 2 oscars, tigershovelnose and crystal eye catfish, this not temporary stock i cant decide exactly what i wanto go with yet. I decided to go with gravel over sand because gravel was alot cheaper, i got 300lbs TN river rock 1/4-1/2 for 19.75 at local landscape supply.
