So Today,I went to Aquarium Adventure, which they teamed up with Petland(which I have no clue why).I spotted a EBJD for 13 dollars.I was surprised by the pricing they had it at.Compared to others who was 20 dollars or above on something that isn't even 2 inches yet.I took some pictures, even though my camera is slow at taking the pictures, also the EBJD is very active in tank.I have him in a 10 gallon for now, until he gets to 3 inches, then he will be put in with the larger cichlids in my 125 gallon tank
Hopefully you can make out at least what the fish looks like.

I hear different things honestly.Good thing that I know for a fact, that they're not hybrids then.So I am not understanding why they would be very pricey,is it one of those batches where only a few ebjd would come out or what?

Lots of selective breeding to get the Blue Gene to show.

So will EBJD be any different for growth rate and aggressiveness?

They are generally a little smaller than regular JD's. Aggressiveness, they're not as aggressive as a regular JD. They're more prone to sickness and seem to die sooner than regular JD's.

EBJD are barely "selected bred" in the hobby. Although it has been done in a few recent years, and only made a slight improvement in them. You can cross an EBJD x EBJD and a bunch of regulars JD comes out in return. They are known to be more prone to sickness, and much harder to keep alive. Also a very slow grower as well. Once you hit the 3-4" mark, they should be as steady as a regular JD would be. And as posted, they are not a hybrid.

Would this be consider a bad purchase then, since they're more prone to sickness?

If given the proper care, they will be alright. Use a UV sterilizer for less risk of any sickness. But that doesn't mean they can't catch it, it just mean less chance of catching it only. ;)

Ok I see then, well I am very careful on how I take care of my cichlids actually,so it shouldn't be as bad then for me to give the EBJD the same proper care I give everyone else.since I have him in a temporary 10 gallon aquarium for now, what UV sterilizer should I go with then?
