I tried it tonight and it worked perfect!
I have been feeding them bloodworms only since I got them, just to make sure they ate well while they settled in.
Tonight, I prepared the food the way you recommended. I used Hikari Fancy Goldfish pellets (purple bag) because I like the color enhancers, and the pellets are small so that when I do switch them over to pellets only, they will have a small pellet that they are used to the flavor of.
I made the paste like consistency, and began feeding with the spoon sitting on the surface of the water.
I released a little bit at a time into the water, and I could tell they were getting excited over the smell of the worms, but the sinking pellet chunks fell faster than the worms, and they started attacking them.
I had tried offering the pellets whole, and only a couple of the bass 'tasted' them but spit out. Now, most of them were eating the tiny pieces and eating the worms.
The more I fed ,the more they started eating the pellet chunks while waiting for the worms to come off the spoon.
They are all really fat right now, and the largest one started displaying aggression. I'm a little nervous because the two smallest are like half an inch smaller than the three biggest (different batches). Hopefully everything is alright.
