A local guy and his gf was rehoming their JD collection.

So I picked up 10 JDs from them.

Here are a few pics of them.

There are 3 EBJDs and 7 Blue Gene JDs. He has had a pair of Blue Gene JDs spawn successfully and got a batch of EBJDs/BJJDs/JD mixes.

They all range from 5 inches to 8 inches!

This is my first time keeping JDs. I've kept Malawi's before and am currently keeping Tanganikan's and Discus' (not together :D).

I've been reading only trying to soak up as much info as possible.

Any advice specifically about JDs I should know about?

Enjoy the pics... :)

One question I have is where it was possible to tell the difference between Normal JDs and Blue Gene JDs.

As you can see from the pics, one is much darker and has less blue than the other ones. Was wondering if it could be that it is just a normal JD.

It is impossible to tell the difference between a BG and a normal JD. your lighter fish kind of resembles a gold JD.

Nice man :D love the colors... which JD tends to be more valuable and aggro? Blue or normal?

Thanks guys. I love my discus' and Frontosas, but these are growing on me very quickly here. I've always wanted EBJDs but have read so much about them being hard to raise since they are suppose to be pretty weak when they are young.

Nice. I like the one in the 5th pic.:)

I can't even decide if I like the dark one or the white one more. :P

Hmmm... the seller never mentioned anything about goldens. I wonder if they could be goldens. I wasn't sure what goldens were suppose to look like.

EBJDs are more pricey and are suppose to be "less aggressive". But then again, EBJD are slower growers than normal JDs, so I don't know if that accounts for the less aggressive part of their behavior.

Yeah, good job. EB are expensive because the process of making them is a bit tedious. You have to have a Male EB mate with a Female BG...2 EB causes weak and mortally unstable.
In all essence the EB are "special" or "mistakes" of nature. Since fishes cant do math we won't know their IQ, but they are prized for their beautiful color and rarity
