Picked up a Flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
do you have dark or black gravel? might be the reason why it's darker now.

My Vietnam import male is in a tank with dark, dark brown, multicolored river rock gravel. He's more colorful than just about any 'horn posted on this site in the last 2 years. Gravel isn't the issue.

Potential troll? Seriously? I don't know if your advice is just taken as truth 100% of the time because of your post count, but:

"I bought a FH last week from petsmart."

1. Yeah right. Don't even TRY convincing someone you know what this is, let alone that it's anything besides a crappy red dragon. (Sorry, truth.)
2. Male? This fish is what, 2-3" long, you have no idea what it is. Seriously.

Maybe you're just trying to make it so this dude doesn't flush it if someone tells him it's a mediocre, unidentifiable fish, but stop.

And yeah, anything bought at Petsmart/co is just that, unidentifiable. Even if you grow it out, it doesn't matter what it LOOKS like, it was born in and grew up in a gigantic farm tank with hundreds to thousands of other "flowerhorns". This kind of thread and these types of comments are poisonous to the hobby (specifically, the keeping of flowerhorns) for those of us who take the time to research what needs to be researched, and buy fish from reputable, knowledgeable breeders, typically outside of the country.

LOL. All I got say about what you posted. :D

wut

If it is a fader it will turn jet black and then slowly that will fade out into a pink and yellow/orange. That won't happen until almost 4" if it's a male. It's still kind of early to tell, but I think it's probably female. GL HF and say goodbye to those giant danios LOL!

Big1.....I think this is more funny......but for the most part what he said about petsmart is kinda true....but unless you worked for there company or for there fish farms then u don't kno shizz....as far as I kno petsmart use seagrass farms for there fish rufus the guys at petsmart are not breeding the fish themselves dummy

Oh, let's see this magnificent horn of yours.

Oh yea and his so called Vietnam imported male is nowhere on here so no pics...rufus so what Ur saying is your FH is more colorful than any FH on this site in the last 2 yrs....do u even own a FH because all your post are about where to buy one at...LOL
Now idiots like you(who spouting off claiming this and that like your some kind of expert) is what gives mfk a bad name....you may even own a few FH at home but in no way does that make u a expert...do not bash a company u don't kno anything about nor claim you have the best FH with no pictures....
