Picked up a FreeB POS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've decided I'm going to fix this tank up and then sell it at a discount to some other enthusiast. I got it free and I already have everything I need for the referb. I dont really need the tank. 90g is a good useable size so I'm sure it will find a good home once I make it pretty again.

Agree with you there, however that's not always possible (seems like every few years I end up raising baby birds, so much work, especially teaching them to hunt for themselves).
I pass on most smaller birds to other rehabbers I know. I specialize in water birds mostly but I do take on crows. 8yrs ago I rescued one who I eventually banded amd released 50 miles away... He came back. Lives in the maple tree in my yard now with his annually growing family lol. The cool thing is tho that some of the crows I've rehabbed since then have been adopted and taught by the old guy. Some of them stick around and become part of this flock, others learn what they need and then fly away

Crows are smart birds, ravens perhaps smarter

No argument there. As long as they aren't taking fish from my ponds I like having them around. He will come down from the tree and hang out close to me still. I don't try to touch him but I will leave worms out for him when I collect them for the fish and I help them thru the winter months. The bennifit to having them around is it make less work for me to fledge young crows when I rehab them. All I have to do is keep them fed and clean close to the flock. When the babies are ready to fly I just open the door and Im done. Old man takes over the rest amd most of them have made it.
