The other day I visited a LFS and picked up these two little guys. They are growing out in a 125 w/ a Blue Acara and some Giant Danios. I've bred some GT's years ago and at first I really thought this was a little female GT based on the body shape, but over the last couple weeks the coloring has started to make me second guess. I have no idea on the JD, I have always liked them, but this is my first that I have ever kept. They are both pretty small, roughly 3" or so. I got a good picture of the GT, but the Dempsey is more shy. Just wanted to share some pics now that I am slowly getting back into hobby.

Looking good!
Jd looks like a young male but the patterning can change with age.
Gt also looks like a male.
Keep an eye on the two as they grow - they look similar enough that they might start to fight.

The GT would lazily follow the Dempsey a lot of the time, but the Dempsey is fast and it seemed more playful than badgering. At some point in the last couple days, the GT has switched to more of a stand your ground approach, staying on one side of the tank and darts at the Dempsey if it gets too close. I haven't seen any real aggression yet besides the Dempsey briefly lip locking with the Blue Acara. I have another 125 with an Oscar growing out, so if things get violent, I have an option. The Oscar is roughly the same size as the rest of them, just in his own tank.

The Dempsey has some crazy patterns and colors, I wish i could get a good shot of it. There is red on the very tips of the dorsal fin. There was probably 15-20 of them in the tank at the store, I got the only one that was dark, the rest were all washed out and muted colors.
