Remember that one of the ways to make rt is texas x a fading flowerhorn and this is the way most of the petsmart ones are made most likely. So it is no surprise that some of the petsmart rt look fh and some look rt and some look stuck between the two.
Picked up a Petsmart Red Texas, curious what it is.

Yeah I've been looking to get more info about the origins of the red texas since I picked it up and I've found it to be more difficult than most. I'm still not really sure what exactly goes into one but I figured based on looks it was a Fh and a Green Texas at least. Pretty nice fish so far, it's cool anticipating what it may look like full grown. It's a jerk so far too, really likes flexing at the other tank mates.
The only way to get RT is BPxGT. Flowerhorn plays absolutely no part in creating an RT.

Cant wait for updates on this. my Petsmart has and RT tank on top of Flower Horn Tank and the fish look EXACTLY the same in both. I am pretty good at IDing fish and I cant tell these apart. needless to say I stayed away from both I am not trusting some high school kid to tell them apart. I hope yours turns out well.
