  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would like to hear more on this percentage....As far as I know, ALL short bodied cichlids, go through the same process, and it is post birth, not genes..... any who, danz, your dads fish is hot hot hot!!! I hope mine look like his.:D They are not hard to get...NECichlids has them on his stock list, right now!;) Here are mine. For some reason, I feel short bodies still belong in hybrids, more so than the standard forum, IE CA/SA...They seem to get a better reception here. People must know they are not hybrids however....Oh well....I imagine this thread will not get moved....hahahaha:grinno:

I have been working on a short body pink convict project and tried a cross with female sb with reg barred male I got around 5 of 30 SB and 2 extreme SB. They are freak fish which is why most purist are not fond of them and by line breeding you make the gene stronger but you also also weaken the fish. I have around 7 breeders (2M, 5F) right now from 3 sources so I have some diversity and make the "midget" gene recessive.

I ended up getting him a friend today. It was the closest thing to what I thought was a female. Not much color, dorsal fin seems a liitle rounded. I'm hoping for the best

Again (crappy pics) I'll get some good ones with the nikon once they've settled in.

They are poking at each other right now. The male is doing that vibrating thing against her. They're pretty cute.

I also picked up a few other fish. Those I put in a different thread.

yeah.......

I think I might have to go back tomorrow and pick me up a few more..

I'm curious about breeding...
2 SB's get SB fry? 1 SB and 1 Reg for SB fry? Same breeding line as EBJD's...hmmm it hurts to think right now. I need sleep. Actually first a Boo Boo, then sleep.

As it would make the fish less likely to survive in the wild, SB should be a recessive gene. so SbSbxSbSb=SbSb, RgRgxSbSb= RgSb (reg phenotype with the SM gene)
