i picked up an african arowana last night. he's freakin cool as crap. never even seen one in person. now im hoping to have a community of my leichardti, african aro, and silver aro. im thinkin with the 3rd aro the lei wont go crazy on the silver but we'll see. he's only about 3-4" but he's so darn active. constantly moving and always looking for food.

any recommendations on what to feed this lil guy? thanks

Shrimp. They Love It

have you kept one before? and how long did you have it on shrimp? ill try cut up market shrimp but i tried freeze dried shrimp last night and he ate it but spit it out.

it can only take small foods. if its too big they will spit it out no matter how much they like it.

i just added a 12" silver aro i got for free with my 8" jardini, risky but has been ok for 4 days

cool! You're getting quite a collection!

thanks meiling, i think a tank with a leichardti, african aro, and silver aro, with dats and my ray and bichirs will look freakin awesome. i jus need to aquascape it as its bare tank with just sand at the moment. but i have no idea how to make t look nice.

I had the same problem. Bamboo is what I went with, it can be submerged, I weight it with green cheesecloth like material holding gravel or rocks to keep it sunk, used a zip tie to secure the bamboo in it's little bag of gravel, then put white (or your favorite color)gravel around it so it blends in. I have 5 spiral babmoo plants across my tank and it looks awesome! One night of Aro antics can toss things around but when each plant is weighted and free standing, it's easy to put back in place.
