I went to Petco earlier and saw a couple fish with really vibrant colors in w/ the JDs and I had to double-check but they were selling them as normal JDs, so grabbed all 3 of them. How crazy is that, 3 EBJDs for $11???
lol yea 1 of these daysThat's awesome! Can you post pictures?
iknorite. I jumped right on it as soon as I knew what they were. Most places around here sell them for $30 eachSomebody at Petco goofed.....shocker!
Good score for you though!
ya....it took me a second cuz they were actually built just like Jags....even when I just checked on them in the new tank I kept asking myself "There's no such thing as an Electric Blue Jaguar, is there?", but then I was like "Well, if Petco's supplier sent them as JDs and THEY didn't know either, then I guess neither one of them cares"Not surprised theres so many times the fish are mislabeled and what not. Thats a really good deal though!
so it must be recessive then if they have a Heterozygous "carrier"EBJD breeding is a thing shrouded in mystery. Weather the gene is natural or from hybridization is still debated. The "jag" build you talk about comes from the fact that many EBJD are actually physically deformed. While some cases are pretty mild, I've also seen horrible deformities that are still sold because all the breeder cares about is the profit.
Also for breeding, theoretically, you'd get best results from a good EBJD (many seem to be sterile) and what is called a blue gene Jack Dempsey or BGJD, basically a JD carrying the blue gene.
