Hope he does get that big I got a red tail cat that is two or three times bigger than him at the moment. Don't want to put him in the pond until he get bigger. The owner that gave him to the lfs had him with some oscars and that's why his fins are missing. Hopefully they grow back. I caught wild channel cats before, didn't know they swam like that. If I knew, I would of caught a few and threw it in my tanks years ago haha. Hope he still swim actively when he gets larger. I'll give you guys updates soon

I agree with the ID. 3.5' is not unheard of to catch from Mississippi. Probably 4' at most, 60 lbs. The fins are in a rough shape - either bitten off or lost to infection/fin rot. May not grow back. Genetic mutation from inbreeding is also possible (inbreeding also leads to albinism). If he is not hungry, it is not normal for him to be so active. Mine swim fast like that only with food in the water. Otherwise, when they swim around, it is leisurely.
