Hi everyone. Can I please get a confirmed I.D. On my new pick ups. I bought both at 35 each, originally in the store they looked like a pair. Now we believe them to be both males. They had mayan in this same tank for sale too. For piece of mind a I.D. and possible sex. Both are close to thesame size at 4" maybe 4.5"uploadfromtaptalk1366645445044.jpguploadfromtaptalk1366645597891.jpg

I say top one male bottom one female both are festae...I say bottom one female because her dot in the middle of her back is darker and more pronounced just like my female that is the same size...I could be wrong tho...you will definetly know in a couple months tho

At this size niether one is showing characteristics if being female! If you look both have that "black" spot below the dorsal which means nothing. I see no dark spots in dorsal and lots of spangles on anal fin which to me = male:) they still have a lil growing to do, to be 100% sure tho

Well terrific. We just wanted festae and these were the only two at the time. Both being male would actually work well for me, they can stay in the community. If a pair developed id have to solo them together in a different tank. Im excited to have these, both change so much all day long. Im very excited these will be in my 270 with 3 red devils, 2 petsmart red texas, 2 red head, jag pair and a female RTM. Festae in vegas are extremely rare and sell for 35 here.

My festaes are about the same size and this is my first time keeping festaes...so I know im not too experienced with them...but I can really tell between male and female with 4 out of the 6 I have and the 2 females have those dots more pronounced than the males...also since yesterday my dominant male which never had dark bars or black on his dorsal barred up really dark and has alot of black on his dorsal fin...festaes are really hard to tell until they color up
