Hi i recently put in a 4x6 pond and picked up some pickerel weed. I was wondering if this would be a good bog plant and if so how should it be planted with a liner. thanks Rob

Their a good start, Cattails are better (plant the same way).

Use pond plant baskets (HD/Lowes) and gravel, place where there is a good water flow.

Excelent bog plant. Try a few different depths if possible.

Thanks alot for the reply guys ill get them in and see how they do. One more thing how much light do they need to do well? My pond is shaded most of the day.

Usually full sun, but depends on the depth planted (shallow = less light etc).

What kind of shade is it? Dappled, full, light,
Does the pond recieve any full/direct sun during the day?

They will also produce more and frequent flowers w/more sun. There are ways to get them to flower a litle more in shade, but that requires ferts.

At this time of year i dont think there is any direct sunlight on the pond, i havent been out there at all times of the day. The roof of my house cuts it off right at the edge from what i have seen.

Do they live year round in FLA? In Chicago, they die back each fall, go dormant in the winter, and come back each spring.

Dont really know still new to the pond thing. They are everywhere right now every ditch and pond, i pulled the ones i have from the retention pond across from where i work. cant quite reach the cattails there to far in not to get wet.

Get yourself some hip wadders.
