I don't know about plecos at all!
I want a fish to clean the algy off the glass.

But I don't want anything that gets over 10"! Something that can hang with central an South American cichlids. And an asian Arowana.

Any suggestions guys? What's a nice looking pleco!

Fancy or exotic plecos dnt really clean tank. +1 Bristlenose plecos, some hit the 7" mark.

+1 on the brislenose. If your main focus is to clean tank, why go with pleco at all? I would go with a flagtail prochilodus, or fei fong. They clean will, will stand up again most fish, goes great with arowanas, and looks good!

I have clown loaches, my main focus for the pleco was clean the glass....

flagtail prochilodus does a much better job at cleaning all your tanks surfaces than plecos. No pleco will be able to survive on algae alone for long term. You'll have to feed it. Plecos are known pooping machines, which end up causing more algae.

Get pleco only only because you like pleco, not because you want them to clean. That'll only either cause death of the fish, or disappointment on your part.

Why not tackle the algae itself? Perhaps your lighting is too intense and/or on for too long. Aswell as this there may be too much nutrients in the water allowing the algae to thrive. You may be overfeeding slightly.

I have found that clown plecos can be good for algae, they are as hard as nails and also a dwarf species.
