I am a firm believer that variety food for your aro is the best way to feed your aro for its good health and well being. Some aro i believe are picky eaters and you must be really careful or risk retraining your aro to eat pellets again

I tried numerous times pellet training my aro at its young age. starved it for a month each time till i gave in. But my aro by miracle & complete shock that one day just began taking pellets lil by lil out of the nowhere and now my it to accept pellets regularly finally. It will be its only food for now.

Im scared of even feeding anything live or fresh or frozen foods as in the past, my previous jardini just did not want to take pellets anymore after only 1 feeding of dried krill & bloodworms. It never went to eat pellets again after many tries and i eventually sold him. So for now, my jar will eat pellets and no treats of any kinds whatsoever

So how many of you guys experienced any of your fish not taking pellets anymore after feeding it something else such as worms, fresh shrimp etc...?

My jardini is a nightmare with pellets he'll only eat one type and my lfs only sell it in 57g bags as you can imagine they go nowhere he's 19" , at the min he's on raw king prawns , mussels, and im trying to sneak the odd hikari gold im but he's havin none of it , in the past I've fed him silk , meal and earth worms , whitebait

Would u recommend raw shrimp over cooked shrimp. I always go with the cooked frozen variety

I used to coz they were cheeper but I've had better colour results from the raw king prawns blue in colour

Lively your in the UK ? Go sainsburys they got bags there in frozen section of the blue raw ones

I've raised several blacks and a green on nothing but Hikari food sticks when young and never had a problem. Once its a bit bigger and totally happy with pellets then you can try introducing things like prawn/shrimp up to about half the feeds but go back to just pellets the second it starts to turn its nose up at the pellets. I used to feed pellets in thee morning and prawn at night, and if it didn't eat pellets I'd just skip the evening feed and try pellets again the following morning.

I heard if your arowana jumps out of the tank and kills itself it was doing so to sacrifice it's life in order to save yours.

Believe what you want, but be sure to look at the "facts" behind it. My first black aro was raised from 5" to 22" on nothing but pellets in under two years.

my aros only like hikari jumbo carni-sticks... i get snubbed when i try to feed prawn or smelt unless they're real hungry.

i'm in the process of training them on different pellets and different foods. they're about 18 inches long now.
