I want to tile the bottom of my 330. It is drilled (plugged with bulkhead fittings/PVC cap). Anyone else find a clean looking way to tile around this without it being obvious? I do not like to use acrylic patches unless I HAVE to. Regardless a patch on the inside would not allow tile to sit flush anyway.

Any thoughts, pics and or ideas?

Pic of the underside. It is currently covered in sand on the inside. It's just the flange of the bulkhead fitting that sits just above the flat surface of the floor.

How high does the cap sit off the bottom of the tank ?
Could you glue small sections of tile to a larger peice (the one that would cover the cap) and place it over the cap.

Actually that's a pretty solid idea. Thanks bro. So you are thinking I use two layers of tile but the bottom layer have room to lay flat over the bulkhead fitting? That could work. It is raised about 1/2" off of the floor

I supposed I could do the same with egg crate or the likes as well.

That's a tough one in terms of aesthetics. Perhaps drilling hole in tile to sit flush to the tank bottom. Use the cut out piece and place over bulkhead?

It obviously won't be hidden, but could be acceptable?

The goal being to keep it hidden or I would just keep the sand. This is a grow out tank for ray pups. The tank underneath it is matching but no holes. I want them both to match and be clean.

The 330 is a closed loop with an Ultima II 1000/Reeflo Dart. I would prefer not to use these holes for the closed loop though.

An Og maybe keepin posted a picture of tile with sand and driftwood. I thought it looked good, maybe you just cap it and hide it with plants or wood?

Are you able to color match the tile? If so, cut a hole in the tile that goes over the bulkhead flange. If there is quite gap between the top of the tile and the flange, I'd put Pond Foam, then a fish safe epoxy (I use Polygem), paint the epoxy to match the tile (any acrylic paint), then seal with a clear epoxy. If not much of a gap, just plug the hole with Polygem and then paint. Bet it can be done so the hole repair isn't detectable.

Could cut out the middle section of tile to fit over the bulkhead like you would do if you were tiling a back splash and tiling around an outlet then lay another tile over it. Would be raised a bit but may not be too noticeable.
