Pics Needed ~ Tile Bottom / Drilled Bottom

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Could cut out the middle section of tile to fit over the bulkhead like you would do if you were tiling a back splash and tiling around an outlet then lay another tile over it. Would be raised a bit but may not be too noticeable.

Yes, I thought this would be an option and essentially what I proposed above. But rather than a whole piece that would be difficult to set flush. Perhaps I wasnt clear enough...

I would suggest leaving it sand and not worry about it.
The sand looks natural. And tiles can trap debris under them.
Your pups will also feel a lot more comfortable with a sand bottom rather than tile.

My bad I thought you meant to drill it. I have never drilled tile before. Is it the same principle as the score and snap or a bit?

I will say that I've not personally done, but have seen guys that do tile, drill out.

The snap to form pieces conceptionally would work, but i dont know how clean the end result would look versus drilling for the bulkhead.

Check out diamond hole saws. Unless the tiles are an exact match with the inside dimensions of the tank, you might need a tile saw too...which you could probably rent. Tile saws aren't too expensive. I think my husband picked up three of them at yard sales....When you're done with a tile project, you have no more need for the saw ☺

If you really wanted to go the drill route, I just call up some local places. They may just do for you for a small fee? Just provide appropriate sizing.

Solid idea. Thanks man. Tiles fairly cheap so I don't mind trying out a few of my bits to try it my myself.

I will check and see if I have one tomorrow. Thanks
