Female clown loaches lead the group. I see it in mine, when another CL is added the females come out and size it up and somewhat "greet" it. The females are much chunky/bulkier. My friend's biggest female is around 10" and is round like a soup can.
Im in no way an expert but my females always seem to be more active, theyre the ones that are out all the time and it gets the other males to come out too.
