After losing my silver, i've been browsing around for my next arowana to raise. I've narrowed it down to an RTG or a black arowana, being the most affordable types.

The black looks interesting, aren't as susceptible to dropeye, slimmer than the silver, but still have that frustrating habit of jumping. I'm wondering if when they get larger (20"+) would the black-blue tint fade away, making it look similar to a silver? Could someone please post some pics of a large black?

Or I could get into the asian aro world, and take advantage of the fact that I can legally buy them here in Canada. I would like to see some 20"+ RTGs if possible, with none of that special lighting/NaN stuff.

Thanks all in advance.

Do a search there is a search function.

well as you live in canada get the RTG as it really pisses the guys off in the US :D

maybe i'm incapable of utilizing the search function because i can't seem to find any 20"+ black/blue arowana pictures. except the one in the sticky.

about the rtg, i've seen that alot of them (~16") tend to be silver with tinted red tail, and i have seen some that are a dark gold with a tinted red tail. is this dependent on the 'quality' of the fish or will they all develop the dark gold colour when they get older?

get an rtg, skip the black. asians are way cooler.....

Dont even think about the black. You will be much happier with the RTG. Prices around GTA have gone down a lot lately. You can get a nice one under $500.
