No specks on the face means a male. You may already know that though..... ;) 8 years is great to hear.... For some reason I know a couple people that have had them and I never hear about them living that long.... That is a cute story with your uncle. Do you have a JD?

At the moment I dont have the room for another big fish-Ive already got my hands full :).

Yeah I know how to sex them, and yeah, They can live that long, and longer. I know someone with a 16 year old convict. Most CA/SA's can live around 10 years if treated well.
 
Very much so! Good personality although he gets REALLY mad once a week when we clean his tank!!! He attacks when we are cleaning the gravel......Very active and gets excited when he knows he is getting fed. He is spoiled rotten!!! :)
 
Great! Alot of the time JD's arent as personable as other fish like it, and Ive heard many times of them hiding alot, its cool that yours it owner responsive. The one my uncle had was kind of a sourpuss :)

It hid most of the time, bit my uncle, and killed an oscar
 
beautiful fish...how big is he? if he's that aggressive i wouldn't bother trying to put anything in with him in a 50. he's probably happiest by himself anyhow
