Pics of my balls....pythons that is!

Thats the plan. I've got about 5 normal females to go to the pastel male, and with pastel being a co-dominant trait, I should make visible pastels in those clutches.

The spider girl should be ready to go by the fall of '08, and when you cross a spider with a pastel, you can make pastels, spiders, and bumblebees (spider x pastel). Bees are hot!

I am seriously considering getting a snake sometime in the next couple of years.
I would love a tree boa and a ball python (different setups, of course)

So beautiful....you have a great collection!

I have read that you have to be very strict with handling snakes regarding hygiene because of salmonella....I would be very interested in hearing how you deal with that issue since I have dreams of handling my ball python often if possible.

Thats actually a bogus myth. I'm more concerned about getting salmonella poisoning from my kitchen cutting board than any of my snakes. I use hand sanitizer before and after I handle them, to protect THEM from my germs and then to protect myself from anything the rats might have brought into their cage in between cleanings.

I use newspaper substrate and a chlorhexidine (Nolvasan, Virosan, etc) cleaning solution, so every time they defacate or urinate, the entire tub is broken down and completely cleaned. Rack systems make having a large collection very simple to maintain. Glass tanks are troublesome just because they are bulky, heavy, hard to clean, and don't retain heat and humidity very well.

If you are considering getting a ball python or tree boa, I would highly recommend looking into plastic housing. Makes life much easier for the snake and its keeper.
