Nope shes a female I've seen her lay eggs but they lost them due to first batch and the male almost killed her so I had to get rid of him

I had to do a double take through your pics. Your right. The res markings on the face i thought were there were just either the angle, or some other thing. She had blushing near her mouth but i mistook this for the red splotches males get. I should have gone with my first assumption based on body color. I have a huge monster male that bred with my midas female and he was the most gentlest partner

I'm not sure what happened but I came home one day and he was almost black had all the tank mates hiding and she was in the top corner find shredded almost no color that was about three or four weeks ago

Nice fish. I've been looking around for some that look similar to mine, defined black belt with a silver base and and a red throat. Haven't seen any really but this one is nice, I like the belt.

Mine use to have a lot of red when he was younger. It faded away a bit. From a bright red to a a bit duller.

Here he is at maybe 7-8" poor guy went through an ugly phase

And now at about 4yo now. (Actually this pic is a few months old) 11" and 5-6" tall
