Finally found a male for my females and I took a few pics with my cell phone and thought they turned out rather well so I thought I would share. My Honduran Red Points photo bombed they are always coming up to me when I am in front of the tank.

Male to the left female right.

Less than 24 hours in the tank and he is preparing a place to breed. He keeps trying to show off for the female

NIce! I have always liked Rainbows...Hopefully they get along good with the HRP's.

I hope so too. The HRP's and female rainbows have been together for more than a year. Both are fairly peaceful. The unknown will be how the newly added male will be. I hope they do well.

If you get a spawn, expect the rainbows to get wonderfully aggressive. They won't kill anyone, but they'll take up a lot of real estate. Mine spawned at one end of a 125g.... once we had wrigglers, they controlled 5 feet of the 6 foot tank. Pretty, but wow.

oh wow. I liked them because they are so peaceful. Mine are in a 75 so sounds like they will take up the whole thing.

How many did you have together? I heard they are great in a large group of like 8. I currently have 3 I plan to do more when I have a larger tank.

Well I was hoping for a spawn but now I am not so sure lol.

So male and female have claimed half the tank. I have a piece of drift wood in the middle of the tank that seems to be the border of two territories. The rainbows don't do any damage but they chase everyone to the other side. My male leucistic HRP doesn't back down he flares back at the rainbow but they each keep to their own side of the wood.

I really wish I had a nice camera to pic up the colors the blues and teals in the belly and the orange and red up top are spectacular.

Introduced on the evening of the 26th and the evening of the 28th I have eggs.

Congrats on the babys! Those are beautiful rainbows too. Are they always displaying that vibrant yellow? If this tank is just rainbows and HRPs I'd say get more rainbows. No need to wait until you have a bigger tank, 75g is more than sufficient. I'd get 3 or 4 more to bring the total to 6 or 7, they do really like being in groups.

Good job on the bordering driftwood too. A lot of times it just takes some forethought on the aquascape to create borders that the fish will recognize. Well done!
