I was told mine is tatf aswell, why is the face and body completely different? Do they really differ so much in appearance walst being the same exact subgenus? Size is approx 14"

Body shape, head shape and overall color have absolutely nothing to do with determining the species of an African tiger fish.
The only time that heads come into play at all is with the morphology of the preorbital bone in brevis vs. forskahlii.

Your fish has three scale rows between the lateral line and the pelvic fin insertion. It doesn't have a grey posterior margin to the adipose fin. It's obviously not a goliath. There's only one thing it can be: tanzaniae.
