picked up this new jag from a friend, it was getting bullied in his tank.
Any Idea of the sex? I dont remember ever seeing vertical bars on a jag before. I think its a female but the color isnt really right, I thought the females should be more yellow colored?
the fin damage is from the previous tank.

I'd guess male but it would be a guess. Maybe when its had time to settle in a bit you can tell.

Maybe stressed male.....bars always throw me off. My girl for comparison...

He or she is about 9 inches, definitely stressed though. In the other guys tank it was getting tag teamed by another jag and Oscar which seemed to have teamed up to take this guy down.
And in this tank it was getting bullied by my chocolate cichlid of all things so I had to remove the chocolate until this guy got settled in. It's been a couple days since I removed the chocolate and things seem ok, no serious chasing or anything.

Couldn't help but laugh at my chocolate cichlids eyes turning bright red in anger at the jags introduction, thought they were supposed to be peaceful.
