have to agree you were flamed on pretty hard from the start...but talking about fish in captivity vs those not in captivity is completely different. You should really look into making your tank into a biotope. this is where you try to mock a natural setup of a given place with your fish and your decoration

the TSN will get huge and eat most of your fish anyways haha

Not if it stays in the 55g. In that tank, it probably won't get too much bigger than its current size.

Not true Ive seen plenty of big cats in small tanks....most notably a RTC that was about 18 inches in a 20 or so gallon tank. Sad I know

yeah i know buying the cat was pretty dum and my point was just because a fish can get a certain size dosnt mean it has to.
You are right, it doesn't "have to", but if it doesn't, that means it is stunted, which, as kdrun has said, is detrimental to their health. I would be willing to bet $100 that a rtcxtsn that is well cared for will reach at least 4'.

this is true also, some fish dont reach their AVG length because that length is just that....and average of a sample size. Some will be smaller...some larger. Some fish that get rather large and who are stunted sometimes will grow humps...its kind of sad to see.

This is what makes me angry. You are taking care of an animal and are basically saying "I don't care about it health. I don't have to treat it good." It does have to get to a certain size, its not right to knowing stunt your fish. I now agree with everyone who says you are an animal abuser. You should not be allowed to have fish or any living thing in your care.
